Self-service, made simple

Buy. Collect. Check.

Buy your ticket

Self-service machines sell a range of National Rail tickets. Follow the on-screen options for your destination and journey.

Oyster purchase and pay-as-you-go top-up facilities are available on Oyster-enabled machines.

Collect a booking

Have the collection reference from your booking confirmation ready. Your payment card may also be required.

Avanti West Coast bookings use an 8-character collection reference. Follow the collection instructions in your confirmation.

Choose how to pay

Credit and debit cards, including contactless payments, are widely accepted. Check the payment symbols on your chosen machine before starting.

Cash acceptance varies. Choose a clearly marked cash-accepting machine, or ask at the travel centre during opening hours.

Check before you leave

Check the destination, travel date, time and any Railcard discounts on your tickets before leaving the machine.

Ticket facilities and payment options can change. If something is wrong or unclear, ask station staff before boarding.
